Abstract The February revolution of 1917 brought about the complete collapse tsarist autocracy and offered multiple possibilities for reorganisation society based on new principles democracy, equality citizenship. Amid societal reconfiguration, system regulation prostitution was repealed in July 1917. After this, Provisional Government later Bolshevik Party looked methods to prevent spread venereal diseases (VD), which had reached epidemic proportions. been government’s main form VD control it frequently attacked by commentators across political spectrum both medical moral grounds decades preceding Therefore, its abolition a project that interconnected with broader discourses liberation efforts rid unwanted remnants old regime.
